From Vikings to Plymouth
Rock to Gettysburg
My family has a very ordinary past and a very famous past. In 1999, I was sent
several emails detailing where my family came from and all of things they had
done. I have modified the content of those emails to tell the story of my
family. The story begins with being Vikings invading England to fleeing religious
persecution in England and the Netherlands as members of the Pilgrims to
colonize the New World. They settled in the wilderness of Vermont only to be
swept up in the events of the Revolution and helped fight for our freedom from
tyranny. After the defeat of the Iroquois tribes at the end of the Revolution,
they migrated to better land in Western New York and settled in the Dayton-Leon
region. There they were once again called to duty at the beginning of the Civil
War and helped organize the Company "K" of the 154th New York Volunteer Infantry Regiment. The
regiment fought valiantly in many of the major battles including
Chancellorsville, Gettysburg, and Chattanooga, and were with Sherman on his March to
the Sea.
My family has been involved in most of the major conflicts America has been
involved in: the Revolution, the Civil War, World War II, and Vietnam. And have
also served in the Army and Navy during peace time.

relative of mine named Dave. Unfortunately, I do not have his contact
information any longer
