Detail of the154th
NY mural at Coster Avenue in Gettysburg
Note: This site
is currently under heavy construction. I am in the process of revamping
the layout and updating the content. Please be patient and visit frequently for
added content on the 154th NY.
This site serves as my repository
for information regarding the 154th NY Volunteer Infantry Regiment which fought
for the Union during the Civil War. You will find information, authentic documents
and photographs pertaining to the 154th NY, my Great-Great Grandfather Sergeant
Marshall H. Shannon, his brother, Private Truman Shannon, and Lt. Edgar Shannon.
My plan is to travel to all of the battlefields that the 154th fought on and try
and document them through video, photographs and maps. I have made it to Gettysburg
and have located their monuments, their mural and their grave sites there. I will
be travelling to the other locations in the future.
Also on this site is a photo
album of battlefields, forts and other historic places I have visited. Along with
the artifacts in my small collection and even some local history on my home town's
regiment, the 140th NY.
